Big Bear, the perfect weekend getaway (even in the Summer!)

Nothing beats a spontaneous trip to the mountains! At just two and a half hours away from Los Angeles, Big Bear made the perfect escape.

Most people probably think of Big Bear as the go to spot in the Winter. BUT, Summer is just as great of a time to visit. Summer is technically the "off season" so accommodations are cheaper and there are less crowds to deal with. Double plus!

Given there isn't any snow in the Summer, you'll find the mountain full of bike riders. But don't let that intimidate you, even if you're not a mountain bike rider *cough cough, me* you can still take the ski lift to the top of the mountain where you can go on a hike or stop at a summit cafe/bar for a quick snack. If anything, it's a blast to watch the riders fly down the mountain at impressive speeds. You might even catch a back-flip or two!

When you're not at the summit, you can go explore the cute village with gift shops, restaurants, bars, ice cream parlors, you name it. Added bonus of visiting in the Summer, it is warm enough for the local artists to be out and about playing live music!

Or you can do like we did... sleep in, enjoy a cup of coffee in the crisp mountain air, and cuddle by the fire place with a Netflix movie marathon. I think.. YES to all of the above!

We stayed here if interested! Highly recommended. Cozy, yet still modern and clean.
